Quarter 4: March - June
The Carving project: again children meet with plaster as media of expression. This time they will be using the substractive technique of sculpture: carving.
The first step was to sketch their subject matter. This last week of April, they will be carving their plaster.

The Sculpture Experience:
Clay work
Children from Ms Bodeman and Mr Devillier's classes enjoyed three sessions of clay work and explored their ideas in three dimensions. Here are some of the results:
Foil Gesture Figures
This time students were prepared in advance to work with foil and use the scrunching technique for making a human figure. They were told to sketch poses they would like to create with the foil and finally decided on one.
Their work, everyone's, is remarkable!
3D Hand effect: This project was one the students enjoyed. They were practicing how to create form on a bi-dimensional surface by playing with line and color. See their masterpieces.
Quarter 2: October-December
Fiber Art Project: Yarn Painting/Drawing (Picasso-inspired Sof Sculpture)
We enjoyed observing Picasso portraits and analyzing his perception of the human face. After describing and talking about his "Portrait of Dora Maar" and "The Weeping Woman", both classes were invited to draw a portrait of a dear person to them (or a character of their preference) distorting the location of the face elements, like Picasso did.

Portrait of Dora Maar

The Weeping Woman
One class of students were later introduced to yarn painting and drawing techniques and asked to trace their portrait with this material.
Ms Santiago and I are very proud of their works of art! We sincerely congratulate all and each one of our artists for showing such great creativity and effort!
Quarter 1: September- October
The Hot Air Balloon project
As we learn techniques to use tempera paint, we decided to work on this rich project that included: painting, collaging constructing, drawing and scratching. It took some time to get finished by children enjoyed their work and here are some of the final art works. Let the balloons fly!
